The printer however will work with other applications like word docs, just not any of the Adobe Creative Cloud apps. Those updates from Apple for printers are not something you ever want to download! The Apple printer updates are not from Epson too. However, my Mac kept saying "all drivers up to date".

Hours of tech support with both Adobe and Epson resulted in nothing, except an admission at the end of the hour plus call that Epson has not issued an updated driver for OS 10.11. In what way and further, it should not work anywhere if it's a driver issue. I have a four year old Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer which will no longer work with photoshop since I upgraded my Mac Pro to OS 10.11. One doesn't have to download through App Store: My guess is that Apple, Epson and Adobe will eventually get this corrected.Īlso, this just came out. They come from machines that get upgraded by dealers.
There are eBay sellers that will sell a Yosemite or ElCapitan boot drive, which is one recourse. In some ways, Apple is getting more restrictive than Microsoft. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if the Mac App Store will allow you to re-download Yosemite if you have downloaded and installed ElCapitan. You could retrieve Yosemite depending on what your Mac originally came with. The newest Macs, I guess, are more limited. I have moved a Core 2 Duo machine from Snow Leopard right through to ElCapitan, keeping multiple boot drives for each system.

You can have multiple partitions on any internal or external drive and install any of a quite wide range of boot systems on any partition if your computer is old enough. Not the answer you want to hear, but this is the advantage and brilliance of the Mac. you will have to search out ways (not that difficult) to get a copy of Yosemite to reinstall. If you do not have a backup, Time Machine being the single best feature of OSX. A working high end Epson printer is far more valuable than a meaningless OSX "upgrade." I use Yosemite and El Capitan almost daily and only see arbitrary minor GUI changes and larger memory overhead in El Capitan without the promised benefit of updated graphics. The simplest is to roll back, presuming you have a clone or Time Machine back up, to the prior working version of OSX. Of course Microsoft answers to businesses that have clout but Apple does not have to answer to anyone (I have three machines that run OSX so I am a victim too). I do not want to ignite a flame war but Microsoft rarely does that-the Vista driver model differed from XP but has not changed since then. The driver model for El Capitan is not radically different from prior versions but Apple makes bizarre anti-consumer decisions in its programming.
